The first edition of UBIsym, an IEEE symposium at Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilhã Portugal, takes place on July 24, 2018 with the theme “Healthcare Engineering“. It will consist in a day of presentations led by distinguished lecturers, inserted in several sections of engineering linked to health and social sciences. The day will also feature a gala dinner in the highest mountain of mainland Portugal, with a breath-taking sunset and night view over the entire centre region of the country. The speakers are Ved Ram Singh (National Physical Laboratory – India), Paul C.-P. Chao (National Chiao Tung University – Taiwan), Jacob Scharcanski (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul – Brazil) and Vincenzo Piuri (Università degli Studi di Milano – Italy).
